I spoke with one of the managers and they gave me permission to be as rude as I feel I need to be to this guy. Unfortunately, I am not a confrontational person so I have been brainstorming ways to get it to stop passively. The girls at work have agreed to get in on the plan.
I am friendly with a few of the regulars, and one of them came up with the idea that we should just let him think we are dating. Comments have been made in front of the problem customer and after one day there are no more obscene gestures or touching. Let's hope this lasts.
I know it may not be the most mature way to handle the situation, but atleast no one is getting yelled at or made to feel uncomfortable. Other customers don't need to see me get lippy with the guy.

The manager should have stepped in and told this guy no more or he is barred. Plain and simple. Now other regulars are in on it and co-workers about this guy. This guy might have some problems. The direct way is the best way I find. The manager is not assuming any responsibility for your well being at all.You shouldn't have had to deal with it.
Having said all that hopefully it works and the guy will stop coming.
Don't want to alarm you but make sure you have an escort when you are closing at night to the parking lot.
I have found that when confronting someone in public, it is often advisable to tell them why you are doing so, in a loud clear voice. This is for their benefit, as well as to enlighten those around you. It keeps you from looking crazy.
hey waitress. Smart tactic ... i've seen it used before successfully. Personally, I'd rather have seen you punch him in the nose.... but that's just me... :)

This guy is pretty entwined in the business so it makes sense that my managers want to step out of it, right or wrong.
I don't often close, but when I do I always have an escort to my car. Usually we all leave at once.
I have no problem telling a customer that his or her business is not wanted because of actions like that. You're there to serve food and drink nothing else. If your manager or owner doesn't understand that then the "Sports Bar" may not be the place for you in the long run. Mike's right...punch him in the nose for the hell of it.
