Quick Question

I'll post the story later, but right now I would like to know what you think...

How much of the collected gratuity from a party should the server receive? And how much of that should the bus staff and bartender receive?

The last place I worked where we did parties, the owner usually figured a five percent grat on the alcohol separate and gave that to the bartender if it was an open bar--plus whatever tips customers gave them. Then the server would get the grat on the food. However, I never had to run drinks in that case. We also cleaned up ourselves.

30% for the busser/bartender where I work feels a bit steep, especially since I tip out the bartender regardless of my drink orders (even if I have none).

Maybe 20%?

5% is the usual going rate for bussers and 10% of bar sales for bartenders. At least in this arctic northern state...
